Metabolic Testing

RESTING METABOLIC RATE TESTING

What is a Resting Metabolic Rate test ?

You will simply sit back, relax, and breathe! During this test the air you breathe out is analyzed to determine exactly how much oxygen your body consumes.

What are the benefits?

Once this test has been completed, your metabolic rate will be used to calculate your target caloric zones. These zones show you the correct amount of food to reach your body composition goals of lean muscle mass and optimal body fat percentage. Eating the correct amount of nutrition is crucial for your metabolism.

What is the cost?

The cost is billed to your health insurance where your individual policy terms apply.  If there is no health insurance or it is "patient responsibility" due to deductible or other factor, the out of pocket cost is approximately $85.

VO2 Testing

What is a VO2 test?

A VO2 test measures the amount of oxygen your body uses at a different exertion levels while you exercise on a bike or treadmill. You breathe through a mask during a short workout.

The recorded information is then used used to calculate your target intensity zones and give you the specific heart rate required for each level of intensity.

What are the Benefits?

With test results, you can be prescribed a diet based on the best source of fuel for your body and the correct calories  you need for exercise. Vo2 testing allows you to take the target heart rate treatment to the next level to get the results you want from your workouts, whether it is fat loss, muscle increase, or core performance. It is recommended to get the test at the baseline, when starting the program and every 3-6 months thereafter to assess efficacy of your routine.  Target Intensity zones will maximize your workout with fewer injuries, less fatigue, less pain, and rapid results!

What is the cost?

The cost is billed to your health insurance where your individual policy terms apply.  If there is no health insurance or it is "patient responsibility" due to deductible or other factor, the out of pocket cost is approximately $165. Aetna does not cover VO2 testing.
