Dan graduated from the Medex program at the University of Washington in 2006. He has been practicing in the great state of Washington for over 10 years. In that time, he has attained a broad knowledge base along with skills in several different practice settings. His experience includes internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine and orthopedics. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Dan also was a respiratory therapist, sleep medicine technician and flight medic. With an interest in physical fitness Dan was a coach and part owner of a CrossFit gym in Puyallup until early 2017. During this time Dan has seen firsthand and helped his gym members accomplish physical achievements well beyond their initial goals or what they believed as their own genetic potential.
Dan is married, and lives in Puyallup with his amazing wife of 5 years, together have a young son who is healthy and happy. Although born and raised in upstate New York, he has been the Puget Sound area for 17 years and now considers this beautiful state is home. Dan’s personal life focuses on quality family time with his wife and son; spending time outdoors. He enjoys all the south sound area’s little treasures from walking the Point Defiance trails with his son, and the occasional dining out on Ruston Way with his wife.
Dan enjoys a wide variety of physical activity and movement as he believes it creates the broadest, most usable base of fitness. Other pursuits include snowboarding, mountain biking, spartan races, hiking, Olympic style weightlifting, CrossFit, and camping. He also finds challenge and stimulation in learning new skills from other people’s suggestion. In keeping open to the variety of physical challenges life provides, Dan has summited Mount Rainier, and Island Peak (approximately 20,000feet) in the Himalayas, trekked to Everest base camp, and briefly tried amateur MM
Being raised in upstate New York Dan’s biggest food craving struggle is pizza, especially The Rock in Puyallup. Dan feels he has found the place he belongs at Rainier Medical Weight Loss and Wellness. Here he can finally combine the practice of medicine with his love of promoting a healthy lifestyle and fitness. For most of his career Dan has witnessed and treated the secondary effects of obesity and inactivity. While there are age, and genetic limitations to our bodies, in Dan’s experience progress toward improvement is more constrained by a person’s mindset, and lack of consistency and knowledge.
Instead of temporarily fixes to chronic medical problems he can now focus on the root cause and help patients attain the best version of themselves.
For all his patients struggling with the confining nature, physical limitations and secondary medical problems created by obesity, Dan wants to partner with them in the challenge and struggle on their path to true and lasting success. It would be his privilege to assist and guide the patients in their journey. He believes the human body is by far be the most amazing machine ever created, yet we lack an owner’s manual. Dan wants to give patients the tools so that they may see this realization as they gradually look, feel and move better. His goal is to help his patients create lasting transformation in their lives through our program at Rainier Medical.
